Skate Coach Job Summary

Responsible for leading individual and group skateboard lessons for intro, beginner, intermediate, and advanced skaters. Students are primarily youth, ages 6yrs - 12yrs, and often start with little or no experience on a skateboard.

Skate instructors are able to lead fun, challenging, and informative lessons using provided teaching methodology, program progression, and skateboard concepts to maintain safety and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Arrival/Departure: Skate coaches are responsible for showing up to sessions before the official start time, and staying after as needed to assist clients or skaters

  • Organization: Coaches manage their own PSS program binder where they’ll record client information, skater progress, and collect waivers. Occasionally, you will be asked to complete online forms.

  • Communication:  Can respectfully handle and manage any necessary texts, phone calls, or emails with coaches and clients.

  • Client Duties: Coaches are the face of our organization. You’re responsible for relationship building, helping get the necessary paperwork, asking questions about the skater, and making recommendations as needed.

  • Lesson Duties: In a lesson, you’ll be expected to give the PSS “Skate Talk”, explain relevant concepts, demonstrate as necessary, guide skaters through drills, and provide feedback.

  • Brand Rep: When you’re on the clock, you represent a positive influence in skateboarding. You’ll thrive here if you can put your best foot forward with skaters, city officials, and community members

  • Pacific Skate School Info: We’re here to help you handle the details, but this role requires a self-sufficient mindset and the ability to independently run programs, lessons or events, and assist with scheduling.
